About Me:

My name is Melvin Mogoli, a young Brooklyn boy. I started acting when I was in church. I remember sitting in the balcony watching a man by the name of James Powell act out a scene. From that age, I knew I wanted to do something of that sort.

At the age of 11, I joined a ministry in my church called C.A.S.T,  Christian Actors Standing for Truth. There is where I found my purpose for the craft, which was using it to change lives, and presenting stories, messages of inspiration.

At the age of 15, I auditioned for a performing arts high school, Talent Unlimited, where I fell deeper in love with acting and, in many ways, found that it can be effective in one's life from master gestures to tableaus, to theater games. It was so exciting each and every day.

My freshman drama teacher, Ms. Glover Peacock, was very strict; everyone hated her but me, because I liked to be challenged. The more work she gave us, it was just the more I grew as an actor and broadened my perspective on life itself.

Although I hated Shakespeare, I liked the fact that I could compare it to hip hop, which I listened to avidly throughout high school, which helped me win third place in the Shakespeare competition sophomore year. Academically, I wasn't so stable, which led me to feel discouraged, so I just focussed on acting. I feel like this is a gift God gave me to get out how I feel and to express my compassion through my characters, and to inspire others.
